The usefulness of tools depends mostly on the user’s understanding of what they’re for and how to use them. Some listeners like more or less bass, more or less midrange or more or less high frequency content. Some aspects of sound reproduction are subjective.

Are these processes valid? Of course! Are they better? That depends on the technical acumen of the person using the tools. Of course, there are lots of ways to go about doing this and some will undoubtedly disagree with this, favoring a more complicated process that includes attempts to measure the flight time of sound from a speaker using impulse response measurements. It’s about using what you’ve learned from the last four posts about time alignment in a straightforward process for tuning a car with a DSP. This one isn’t just about time alignment.
